What You’ll Need:
A5 white cardstock
Pencils
Black sharpies
Acrylic Paint
Paint Brushes
Water

After introducing the weird world of Salvador Dali to my students, we painted ourselves in surreal environments Dali would be proud of. The top requirements were to incorporate one or more of Dali’s famous motifs, while drawing a recognisable version of ourselves. The first part of this project involved sketching out our painting with a light pencil. Second, we used acrylic paint and talked about colour mixing before we dived in. Most of these turned out really great, and it was cool to see how weird their minds are!

Tips: Remind the students that the portraits need to be relatively large compared to the rest of the scene. Also outline your dry paintings in black sharpie to make it pop!
